In 2023, Netumbo NANDI-NDAITWAH, then Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia, stated in a letter addressed to Mr Verhaeghe that the Government of Namibia wished to appoint a person to serve as honorary consul with consular headquarters in the jurisdiction of Lille.
The aim here was to promote Namibia’s economic interests, investment and tourism in France, and more particularly in Lille, which is the capital of the Hauts-de-France region.
The Government of Namibia expressed its full confidence in Mr Verhaeghe, who has already proven his commitment to the country. Indeed, InnoVent, through its Namibian subsidiary InnoSun, has commissioned five solar power plants and a wind farm in 10 years. In addition, the expansion of the Sorexa solar park (49 MW) will be carried out in the coming years and the InnoVent Diaz wind farm (44 MW) will be commissioned in 2026. These two projects are among the largest that InnoVent is set to build in Africa.
These reasons justified the decision to appoint Grégoire Verhaeghe as Honorary Consul of Namibia in Lille. He will hold this position until May 2026.
